Chinese New Year in Bangkok is a BIG event. Unlike America, New Years here is a family affair, not just a time to drink and party. It is a time when all of the family, children, parents and grandparents celebrate in the tradcitional way.
These pictures are just during the daytime. We have been to the night festivities before and skipped this time because of the large crowds. Walking down Yaowarat Rd. at night, you walk at a pace of a few inches at a time. It is the type of a crowd where people, if they fall, can get trampled.
